How it works

Cool air in. Hot, moist air out.

Good ventilation is a simple loop: fresh air enters at the soffits, rises through the attic, and escapes at the ridge — carrying heat and moisture with it.

  • Intake: cool air enters at the eaves
  • Exhaust: hot, humid air exits at the ridge

Why it matters

A poorly vented attic costs you all year.

  • Summer

    Superheated attic

Trapped heat bakes shingles from below, shortens their life and pushes up cooling bills.

  • Winter

    Ice dams & condensation

Warm, moist air melts snow unevenly and condenses on cold decking — leading to ice dams, mold and rot.

  • All year

    Voided warranties

Shingle manufacturers require proper ventilation. Without it, your roof warranty may not be honored.

What we install

The right ventilation for your attic.

  • 01

    Ridge vents

A continuous vent along the peak lets hot, moist air escape evenly.

  • 02

    Soffit & intake vents

Fresh air enters low at the eaves to push stale air up and out.

  • 03

    Baffles

Keep insulation from blocking soffit vents so air can actually flow.

  • 04

    Exhaust & box vents

Static or powered vents where a ridge vent isn’t practical.

  • 05

    Bath & kitchen fan venting

Fans routed outside the roof — not into the attic.

  • 06

    Ventilation balance check

Intake and exhaust sized to your attic, per manufacturer spec.

Why attic venting matters

Many homeowners underestimate the importance of attic ventilation. Without proper airflow, heat and moisture can accumulate in the attic, leading to a variety of problems. Excess heat can shorten the lifespan of roofing materials, while trapped moisture can cause mold growth, wood rot, and structural damage. Proper attic venting balances the temperature inside the attic, reduces stress on your HVAC system, and helps maintain a comfortable environment throughout your home.

Attic venting questions

How do I know if my attic is poorly ventilated?

Common signs: a very hot attic in summer, ice dams in winter, frost or moisture on the underside of the roof deck, musty smells, and shingles aging faster than they should. We check all of this during a free inspection.

Can you add ventilation without replacing my roof?

Often, yes. Ridge vents, intake vents and baffles can usually be added to an existing roof. If you’re replacing the roof anyway, it’s the perfect time to get ventilation right.

Will better ventilation lower my energy bills?

It helps — especially in summer, when a cooler attic means your AC doesn’t work as hard. It also protects your shingles and decking, which saves money long term.

Is more ventilation always better?

No — it’s about balance. Intake and exhaust need to match your attic’s size. Too much exhaust without intake can actually pull conditioned air out of your home.
